Sunday I was treated to my first visit to the site of the original Delicious Apple tree. A dear friend, Carol Liechty, took Ruth Tucker, a 99 year old Madison County resident, and I to see the tree. Of course, the tree standing now is not THE original tree, but it is a decendent of the original tree. It has many green apples on it right now and some are just starting to turn to their red glory. Be sure to stop by the Passport to the Past tent during the Covered Bridge Festival to hear stories from 99 year old Ruth and for more information on Jesse Hiatt and his great discovery!
